MURRAY, Ky. (June 28, 2017) – Kentucky State Police are still on the scene of the explosion in Murray, Kentucky. KSP is being assisted by Kentucky Office of Emergency Management, State Fire Marshall’s Office, and the ATF. Damage to New Richmond is most severe on the South side of the building.
Murray Fire Department has concluded their search of the building and have turned over control of the scene to KSP. Preliminary indications are that everyone has been accounted for. KSP Investigators will work through the night to investigate the cause of the explosion.
The injured person confirmed is Dakota L. Field, age 26, of Murray, Kentucky. He is still listed in stable condition.

Kentucky State Police Investigating Explosion on Murray State University
MURRAY, Ky. Kentucky State Police, along with numerous local emergency service agencies are on the scene of an explosion on the campus of Murray State University. At 4:53 p.m., an explosion occurred at New Richmond College, a residential building on campus.
Emergency services professionals are on scene at this time. One person has been confirmed to have been injured in the blast, and was transported by ground ambulance to Murray-Calloway County Hospital. He is listed in stable condition.
A media staging area has been established at the Five Points intersection, just south of the Intramural Field.
