WHAT:UK/UL “Finish Strong” Seat Belt Challenge

WHERE:Kroger Field, 1540 University Drive, University of Kentucky, Lexington, Ky. 10:00-11:30 a.m. ET Papa John’s Stadium, 2800 S. Floyd St. (Gate F), University of Louisville, Louisville, Ky. 2:00-3:30 p.m. ET
WHO:Representatives from Kentucky State Police, Kentucky Office of Highway Safety, Kentucky Farm Bureau Insurance Co. and local law enforcement.
WHY:To encourage seat belt use and save lives during the holiday season, fans can show support for their teams by visiting the designated sites with their seat belts fastened. The highest fan turnout wins friendly bragging rights before the annual gridiron match-up on November 25. The first 1,000 fans who arrive at each location with their seat belts fastened will receive free red or blue t-shirts featuring a special design (#FinishStrong Kentucky/Louisville—Never Miss A Game—Buckle Up! under a stylized football laces graphic).
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, seat belts, when worn correctly, reduce the risk of fatal injuries to front seat passenger by 45 percent and the risk of moderate-to-critical injury by 50 percent.
