Kentucky State Police Post 9 Conducts Assault Investigation in Floyd County 

PRESTONSBURG, Ky. (June 01, 2026) – The Kentucky State Police (KSP) Post 9, Pikeville, received a call on Monday, June 1, 2026, regarding an assault in the Prestonsburg community of Floyd County.

Troopers responded to a residence on Right Fork Home Branch, where they located Joy Jervis, of Prestonsburg, suffering from multiple stab wounds to the chest and arm.

As a result of the investigation, Eddie Dmitruk, 58 years old, of Prestonsburg, was taken into custody and lodged in the Floyd County Detention Center. Dmitruk is currently charged with Assault 1st Degree.

Trooper Tracy Salyers is leading the investigation and was assisted on scene by additional KSP personnel and local first responder agencies.
