Kentucky State Police Post 8 Investigates Fatal Collision in Mason County

MAYSVILLE, Ky. (July, 17, 2026) – On Thursday July 16 around 6:30 p.m., Mason County Dispatch requested assistance from Kentucky State Police (KSP) Post 8 with a two vehicle fatal collision on KY 11 near the intersection of Waters Edge Way.

Preliminary investigation indicates that Roger Jolly, 81 of Maysville Kentucky, was traveling South bound on KY 11 in his Honda Accord when he crossed the center line and struck a Honda CRV operated by William J. Szymanski, 80  and his passenger Kathlene M. Szymanski, 76 both of Ewing Kentucky, sustained fatal injuries as a result of the collision. Mr. Jolly was transported to the University of Cincinnati hospital for treatment where he remains in the hospital listed in stable condition. 

KSP was assisted by Mason County Sheriff’s Department, Maysville Police Department, Cincinnati Police Department, Maysville EMS and Lewisburg Fire Department. This collision remains under investigation and is being reconstructed by Trooper Dakota Rasche.
