Kentucky State Police Investigate Fatal Traffic Collision

CLAY CITY, Ky. (June, 05, 2025) –Kentucky State Police (KSP) Post 8, Morehead was notified by Powell County Dispatch of a single vehicle injury collision on Black Creek Road. 

Preliminary investigation indicated that Edwin A Caraballo Burgos, 64, of Middletown Ohio was operating his passenger car Southbound on Black Creek Road when he dropped off the side of the roadway causing him to lose control of his car.  As he was attempting to regain control of the vehicle, it appears the vehicle was overcorrected causing it to overturn.  Mr. Burgos received fatal injuries as a result of the collision.

KSP was assisted on scene by Powell County Sheriff’s Department, Powell County Fire and EMS and Powell County Coroner.  The collision remains under investigation by Trooper Tyler Montgomery.
