UPDATE: Kentucky State Police Investigates Fatal Shooting in Rowan County

Morehead, KY (April 29, 2021)After further investigation, detectives were able to charge and arrest two male individuals. Jeffrey Masters, 23 years of age from Morehead is charged with Murder and Robbery 1st Degree. Austin Egbert, 23 years of age from Garrison is charged with Murder and Robbery 1st Degree. Both individuals are lodged in the Rowan County Detention Center. This incident remains under investigation by Kentucky State Police, Morehead.

Morehead, KY (April 29, 2021) – At approximately 1:17 am Kentucky State Police, Post 8, Morehead received a call for assistance from the Rowan County Sheriff’s Department with a home invasion. The incident occurred on Dawson Way in Rowan County.
Through the investigation, detectives determined Cody Elliott, 27 years of age from Hillsboro, KY and an unknown male subject entered a residence. While inside the residence, Mr. Elliott and other individuals inside the residence fired several shots. As a result of the shooting, Mr. Elliott was transported to Saint Claire Regional Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased by Rowan County Coroner John Northcutt. Donavan Kilburn, 21 years of age from Clearfield was also injured in the shooting incident. He was transported to the University of Kentucky Medical Center to be treated for his injuries. Mr. Kilburn resides at the residence where the incident occurred.
The unknown male that was accompanying Cody Elliott fled from the residence in an unknown direction. Kentucky State Police was assisted by Rowan County Sheriff’s Department, Rowan County EMS and Morehead Police Department. This incident remains under investigation by Kentucky State Police, Morehead.
