Kentucky State Police Investigate Fatal Collision in Lewis County

VANCEBURG, Ky. (March, 30, 2026) – On Saturday March 28, 2026 at approximately 8:05 p.m. Kentucky State Police (KSP) Post 8 Morehead was notified of a multi-vehicle injury collision around the 7400 block of KY 59 in Lewis County. 

Preliminary investigation indicates that a red Chevrolet Cruze operated by Abigail Young was traveling Southbound on KY 59 and collided with a Kia Forte operated by Tyson McCray whom was traveling Northbound on KY 59. The Kia Forte then continued on Northbound striking a silver Dodge Ram operated by Andy Adkins. As a result of this collision Mr. McCray’s passenger,  Paulette C. Evans, 53 of Vanceburg Kentucky, was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Lewis County Coroner. Two juvenile passengers were airlifted from the scene to the University of Kentucky Hospital and are listed in stable condition. 

KSP was assisted on scene by Lewis County Sheriff’s Department, Lewis County Coroner’s Office and multiple fire and EMS agencies. This collision is being reconstructed and remains under investigation by Trooper Jordan Barnett.
