Kentucky State Police Investigates Officer-Involved Shooting in Kenton County

CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky (June 20, 2026) – The Kentucky State Police (KSP) Post 6 in Dry Ridge has been requested by the Lakeside Park-Crestview Hills Police Department to investigate an officer-involved shooting that occurred on Friday, June 19, shortly after 11:00 p.m. EDT in Kenton County.

The preliminary investigation indicates that officers from the Lakeside Park-Crestview Hills Police Department arrived at a residence on University Circle in Crestview Hills to assist the Cabinet for Health and Family Services with an investigation. After arriving at the residence, Mr. Daniel Bolinger, a 37-year-old male from Crestview Hills, exited the residence and confronted the officers while armed with a knife. During the encounter, just after 11:00 p.m. EDT, the officers fired their agency-issued weapons, striking Mr. Bolinger and causing fatal injuries. Mr. Bolinger was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Kenton County Coroner’s Office. No other injuries were reported. The investigation remains ongoing.
