Kentucky State Police Investigates Officer-Involved Shooting in Kenton County

COVINGTON, Ky. (Feb. 28, 2025) – The Kentucky State Police (KSP) Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT) has been requested by the Covington Police Department (CPD) to investigate an officer-involved shooting that occurred on Friday afternoon at 3:05 p.m. EST. CIRT detectives have responded to the scene and began an investigation into the incident.

The preliminary investigation indicates that CPD officers responded to an armed robbery call at U.S. Bank at 602 Madison Avenue in Kenton County. Shortly after arriving on scene, officers saw Mr. Charles Davis, of Covington, Ky., fleeing the bank armed with a weapon. The officers gave verbal commands for Mr. Davis to drop the weapon. During the encounter, officers fired their agency-issued firearm, wounding Mr. Davis and resulting in non-life-threatening injuries. He was transported to the UC Medical Center, where he is in stable condition. No other injuries were reported.
