Kentucky State Police Post 5 Prepares for Winter Storm “Operation Snow Angel”

CAMPBELLSBURG, Ky. (January 23, 2026) –Kentucky State Police Post 5 Campbellsburg hosted a meeting of public officials for the 6 counties in our coverage area (Oldham, Henry, Trimble, Carroll, Gallatin, Owen) in preparation for the impending winter storm. The group of public officials established the regional winter task force “Operation Snow Angel” to improve communication and collaboration of resources.

Important things to know for “Operation Snow Angel”:

  • Do Not Call 911 to ask about road conditions.
  • We strongly urge everyone to avoid travel on the roadways to allow our highway departments to clear the roads unimpeded and emergency services to respond to calls for service.
  • Be mindful of potential power outages and the inability to charge cell phones. Please make arrangements to keep your phone charged in the event of an emergency.
  • Ensure your vehicles have adequate fuel in case you are stranded, need to use your vehicle for a temporary shelter, or need to charge your phone.
  • Check on your neighbors who may be vulnerable, and seek assistance early if conditions become unsafe.
  • When using a generator: keep outdoors in a well-ventilated area away from all doors, windows, and vents; do not use it in a wet area as this can cause shock or electrocution; do not refuel it while it is running to prevent a fire; connect appliances to the generator with heavy-duty extension cords; and make sure you have carbon monoxide alarms in your home.
