
UPDATE: Kentucky State Police Investigates Fatal Collision in Nelson County

BARDSTOWN, Ky. (April 29, 2025) – Kentucky State Police (KSP), through the course of its investigation, has charged Jonathan Hood, 26, of Lawrenceburg with vehicular homicide, wanton endangerment, driving under the influence 2nd and open alcoholic container.
Hood was lodged in the Nelson Co. Detention Center. The collision remains under investigation by reconstructionist Tpr. Scott Wheatley.

BARDSTOWN, Ky. (April 23, 2025) – Kentucky State Police (KSP) responded to a two-vehicle collision in Nelson Co. Tuesday evening that resulted in a fatality.
On April 22, at approximately 6:00 P.M. EDT, KSP Post 4 received a call from the Nelson Co. Sheriff’s Office requesting KSP investigate a two-vehicle collision near the 800 block of KY-509 in the Coxs Creek Community of Nelson County.
The preliminary investigation revealed that Jonathan Hood, 26, of Lawrenceburg, was operating a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado eastbound on KY-509 when, for unknown reasons, he crossed the center line and into the path of a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado operated by a 17-year-old juvenile.
Both Hood and the juvenile driver were transported to the University of Louisville Hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries. A passenger in the juvenile’s vehicle, McKinzi Raisor, 18, of Bardstown, was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Nelson County Coroner’s Office.
The affected portion of KY-509 was closed for several hours to allow troopers to reconstruct the collision. KSP Post 4 was assisted at the scene by the Nelson Co. Sheriff’s Office, Nelson Co. EMS, Nelson Co. Fire Department, Kentucky Transportation Cabinet and the Nelson Co. Coroner’s Office. The collision remains under investigation by reconstructionist Tpr. Scott Wheatley. # # #
