Kentucky State Police Investigates Fatal Collision in Meade County

Brandenburg, Ky. (January 19, 2025) – The Kentucky State Police investigated a two-vehicle fatal collision on KY 313 at the entrance to the River Ridge Plaza in Brandenburg on Saturday January 18, 2025 at 12:15pm ET.

Preliminary investigation indicates a 2008 Chevrolet Avalanche operated by 42 year-old Kevin Owens from Brandenburg. Owens was making a left hand turn from KY 313 into the River Ridge Plaza when he turned into the path of a 2024 Freightliner dump truck operated by 24 year-old Shawn Goddard of Brandenburg.

Owens and a juvenile who were both unrestrained were taken by the Meade County EMS to the Harrison County Hospital in Corydon, IN.  The juvenile in the Owens vehicle was  pronounced deceased at the hospital. 

Shawn Goddard was wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash.  

Senior Trooper T. K. Lynch is investigating; Post 4 Troopers, Brandenburg Police, Meade County Sheriff’s Office, Fire Department and EMS assisted him on scene.
