Kentucky State Police Investigates Officer Involved Shooting in Logan County

Russellville, KY. (February 13, 2021) – The Kentucky State Police, Post 3 Bowling Green was notified that Brian D. Ellis, age 44 of Hopkinsville, died at Vanderbilt University Medical Center on Friday February 12, 2021, as a result of gunshot wounds sustained in this incident.

The investigation is ongoing by Kentucky State Police.

Russellville, KY. (February 11, 2020)
– The Kentucky State Police, Post 3 Bowling Green is investigating an officer involved shooting that occurred just before 6:00 PM tonight in Logan County.

The initial investigation indicates that the Logan County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area of 120 Sam Walton Drive in Russellville in an attempt to locate 44 year-old Brian D. Ellis of Hopkinsville who had active felony warrants for attempted murder. Upon arrival, deputies made contact with Ellis who was operating a 2020 Kia passenger car and drove the vehicle toward deputies, at which time shots were fired.  Brian D. Ellis was transported to a medical facility where he is being treated for a gunshot wound.  His condition is unknown at this time.

Kentucky State Police Detectives and Troopers were dispatched to investigate the incident. The investigation on going and being led by the Kentucky State Police. More information will be released as it becomes available.
