
KSP Conducting Investigation of Fatal Structure Fire
It was discovered five occupants were inside the residence when the fire occurred
Salem, KY (Crittenden County) – On September 2, 2018 at approximately 6:54 AM Kentucky State Police Post 2 in Madisonville received a call of a structure fire on Watson Cemetery Road in Salem.
Through investigation, it was discovered five occupants were inside the residence when the fire occurred. Witnesses to the fire were able to remove one occupant, a six year old juvenile, without any injuries. Kenneth Belt, 75 years of age; Lindsey Dickerson, 26 years of age; Waylon Hillard, 32 years of age; and Nathan Hillard, 1 year of age, were pronounced deceased on scene by Crittenden County Coroner Brad Gilbert.
The investigation is ongoing by Kentucky State Police Detective Billy Over. The cause of the fire is undetermined, but foul play is not suspected.
Detective Over was assisted on scene by Sergeant Jon McGhee, Arson Investigator Scott Steward, the State Fire Marshal’s Office, Crittenden County EMS, Crittenden County Sheriff’s Department, Animal Control, Crittenden County Fire Department, Tulu Fire Department, Crittenden County Constable, Kenergy, Salem fire department, and Red Cross.
