KSP Investigating Fatal Collision in Nortonville

Nortonville, Ky. (Hopkins County) – Kentucky State Police Post 2 in Madisonville was requested by the Hopkins County Sheriff’s Department around 8:50 P.M. on August 10, 2020, in reference to a vehicle striking a pedestrian. The collision occurred on US-41 just south of US-62 in Nortonville.

Preliminary investigation revealed 77-year-old Charles Gordon, of Earlington, Ky., was operating a 1995 Buick passenger car northbound on US-41. When his vehicle reached the bridge that crosses East Louisville Street, Gibson’s vehicle struck 61-year-old Ronnie Gibson, of Madisonville, Ky., who was riding a bicycle. Ronnie Gibson’s bicycle had no lights, and was also traveling northbound on the roadway of US-41.

Ronnie Gibson was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Hopkins County Coroner’s Office. Charles Gordon was uninjured in the collision. The investigation is ongoing by Accident Reconstructionist Trooper Hunter Carroll.
