Kentucky State Police Investigates Fatal Collision in Caldwell County

MADISONVILLE, KY. (September 26, 2025) – The Kentucky State Police (KSP) Post 2 in Madisonville is investigating a fatal collision involving a semi-truck and motorcycle that occurred Thursday night in Caldwell County.

At approximately 8:20 PM CT, Caldwell County Dispatch contacted KSP Post 2 requesting assistance with a collision on Interstate I-69 northbound near the 75 mile-marker. The incident involved a semi-truck and trailer and a motorcycle.

Preliminary investigation indicates that Gregory Standard, of Louisville, Kentucky, was operating a semi-truck and trailer northbound on I-69.  The operator of the semi-truck reported observing a motorcycle suffer equipment failure. The semitruck and trailer was traveling directly behind the motorcycle when it lost control unable to avoid a secondary collision.

The motorcycle riders were identified as Michael McAlister, 55 years old and Laura McAlister, 57 years old, of Princeton, Kentucky. Both individuals were pronounced deceased at the scene by the Caldwell County Coroner. The families have been notified.

The operator of the semi-truck was not injured in the incident. At this time, no criminal charges have been filed.

The investigation is ongoing and is being led by Trooper Hunter Combs (U/592) of the Kentucky State Police.
