Vehicle Pursuit    

The driver was lodged in the Hopkins County Detention Center

Madisonville, Ky. (12-05-18) – Trooper Benjamin Sawyer, unit 1043, was traveling northbound on Interstate 69 and observed a vehicle approaching from the rear at a high rate of speed.  Radar confirmed the vehicle was traveling 90 mph.  Trooper Sawyer activated his emergency equipment and the vehicle accelerated in an attempt to elude.  The vehicle then exited at exit 117 onto us 41, made a U-turn, and re-entered the Interstate southbound.  The vehicle then attempted to exit at southbound exit 116, sideswiping a 2018 Hyundai operated by Jason Orange, age 38, of Utica KY.  The vehicle being pursued then overturned coming to final rest on its top on the southbound exit ramp.  The driver of the pursued vehicle, Ms. Larryn T. Owens, 20yoa, of Nashville TN, was lodged in the Hopkins County Detention Center and charged with:

 

       Speeding 26mph or Greater

       Reckless Driving

       No Insurance 1st Offense

       No Operator’s License

       Fleeing or Evading 1st Degree-Motor Vehicle

       Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree

       No Other State Registration Receipt. 

 

A passenger, Ms. Dominique Stone, age 26, of Nashville TN, was also lodged in the Hopkins County Detention Center on an outstanding warrant out of Warren County.  A third passenger, Ms. Jasmine Steele, age 26, of Nashville TN, was treated by EMS on scene and released.  Kentucky State Police was assisted on scene by Med Center Ambulance Service and the Madisonville Fire Department.
