Kentucky State Police Post 15 Investigates Fatal Collision in Lawrence County

LOWMANSVILLE, Ky. (June 18, 2026) – On June 18, 2026, at approximately 7:35 a.m., Kentucky State Police Post 14 units responded to a two-vehicle collision involving a passenger car and a semi tractor-trailer. The collision occurred on U.S 23 in the Lomansville community of Lawrence County.

The preliminary investigation indicates that Johnathan Haney, age 22, was operating a 2012 Kia Sorento southbound on U.S. 23 when the vehicle crossed the median into northbound lanes and collided with a 2005 Volvo tractor-trailer.

As a result of the collision, the passenger of the Kia, Kaitlyn Delong, age 20, of Lovely, KY, was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced deceased at the scene by the Lawrence County Coroner.

Mr. Haney was transported to St. Mary’s Medical Center, where he remains in critical condition. The operator of the tractor-trailer was not injured.
A Kentucky State Police accident reconstructionist responded to the scene and assisted with the ongoing investigation.
