Kentucky State Police Investigates Fatal Collision on KY 555 in Washington County

SPRINGFIELD, Ky.  (March 6, 2025) – Kentucky State Police (KSP) Post 15 Troopers responded to a two-vehicle injury collision on KY 555 in Washington County on March 6, 2025, at 6:29 A.M. EST.

The preliminary investigation revealed that James Drury, 56, of Lawrenceburg, was traveling south on KY 555 in a 2015 Jeep Wrangler when he lost control of his vehicle due to ice on the roadway at a bridge crossing. Mr. Drury struck the bridge’s guardrail multiple times, which damaged and disabled his vehicle’s steering. With no control of his vehicle, Mr. Drury crossed the centerline into the northbound lane when he collided head-on with a 2020 Ford F-150, operated by David Waldridge, 26, of Bardstown, traveling north on KY 555. 

James Drury was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Washington County Coroner. David Waldridge and a passenger in his vehicle, Dustin Pulley, 32, of Campbellsville, sustained serious injuries during the collision and were transported to local hospitals for treatment of their injuries.

KSP Post 15 Troopers were assisted at the scene by the Washington County Sheriff’s Department, Bardstown Police Department, Willisburg Fire Department, Washington County EMS, Washington County Coroner and the Kentucky State Highway Department. Detective Weston Sullivan and Trooper Trevor Sagrecy continue the investigation of the collision.
