Man Found Shot to Death in Perry County

KSP Post 13 is investigating.

 Update (August 13, 2018) – An arrest has been made in connection to the shooting death of a Perry County man last week.  Following days of thorough consideration of evidence and interviews, Detective Clayton Stamper with Kentucky State Police Post 13 obtained and executed an arrest warrant today on 37 year old Harold Hayes of Busy. Hayes was charged with one count of Murder, and remains lodged in the Kentucky River Regional Jail.  The murder charge stems from the death investigation of Terry Stidham, who was found shot to death on Elm Shoal Branch in the Combs community of Perry County on August 8, 2018.  This incident remains under investigation by Detective Stamper and KSP Post 13 personnel.

Combs, Ky.  (August 8, 2018) – A Perry County man was discovered shot to death in his vehicle this afternoon.  Kentucky State Police Post 13 received a call from Perry County 911 at 2:25 p.m., advising that a man had been located in a truck on Elm Shoal Branch Road in the Combs community and that he appeared to have gunshot wounds. KSP Troopers responded to Elm Shoal Branch, along with Perry County Sheriff’s Deputies and Perry County Ambulance Service.

 

At the scene, investigators found a male subject unresponsive inside a pickup truck that was parked on the shoulder of the roadway.  The man had sustained apparent gunshot wounds, and pronounced deceased at the scene by Perry County Deputy Coroner John Collett.  The victim was identified as 38 year old Terry Stidham of Busy, KY.  No other individuals were located at the scene.

 

An autopsy is scheduled to be performed on Thursday, August 9, at the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Frankfort.  Detective Clayton Stamper with KSP Post 13 is leading this investigation.  Additional details relating to this investigation will be made available as they develop.  Anyone with information concerning this incident is urged to contact KSP Post 13 at 606-435-6069 or through the KSP Webpage, social media sites or smartphone app.
