Kentucky State Police Investigate Letcher County Fatal Crash

Linefork, KY. (December 3, 2024) – On Monday, December 2, 2024, at 1:34 P.M, Kentucky State Police, Post 13, Hazard, received a call in reference to a single vehicle accident on Defeated Creek Rd, located in the Linefork community of Letcher County.

Troopers, along with medical personnel responded to the scene and located a vehicle overturned. Preliminary investigation indicates that Terry C. Combs, 58, of Linefork, was operating a 2008 Chevrolet pickup, red in color, northbound on Defeated Creek Rd. The vehicle failed to negotiate a curve, causing the vehicle to overturn over the embankment, partially ejecting the operator. Combs was pronounced deceased on scene by the Letcher County Coroner’s Office.

No seat belts were in use at the time of collision and alcohol is a suspected factor. Toxicology results are pending. This incident remains under investigation by Trooper Donnie Kelley.
