Two Vehicle Crash Claims Life in Perry County

Detective Brandon Thomas with KSP Post 13 is leading this investigation.

Glowmar, Ky.  (November 19, 2018) – A Leslie County woman was killed after the car she was driving collided with a commercial vehicle on Kentucky Highway 15 near Hazard this morning.  First responders were called to the scene around 9:30 a.m. in the Glomar community of Perry County.  Kentucky State Police Troopers and Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Officers responded to the scene along with Fish and Wildlife Officers, Perry County Ambulance and Hazard Fire Department.

The initial investigation determined that Rosalyn Hannah Sizemore, age 19 of Bear Branch in Leslie County, was operating a 2016 Jeep Compass on KY 15 in the southbound lane.  Sizemore signaled to the shoulder of the roadway, then attempted to turn back across the southbound lane.  As Sizemore’s vehicle came back onto the roadway it collided with a 2015 Kenworth tractor and trailer which was traveling in the southbound lane of KY 15.  Rosalyn Sizemore was transported to the Hazard Appalachian Regional Hospital where she was later pronounced deceased by the Perry County Coroner’s Office.  The driver of the truck, Randy Mullins of Pound, VA, was not transported for medical attention.

Impairment is not suspected as a contributing factor at this time, though toxicology results from both operators are pending.  Samples from drivers are routinely obtained during a fatal collision investigation.  No autopsy will be performed.  Rosalyn Sizemore was not wearing a seat belt at the time of this collision, while Randy Mullins was.  Detective Brandon Thomas with KSP Post 13 is leading this investigation.
