Kentucky State Police Post 12 – Frankfort Investigate Fatal Collision On I-64 in Woodford County
VERSAILLES, Ky. (September 17, 2026) – The Kentucky State Police (KSP) Post 12 – Frankfort is currently investigating a two-vehicle fatal collision. KSP was notified of the collision at approximately 9:46 AM of Thursday, September 17, 2026.
The preliminary investigation indicates traffic on I-64 in the westbound lanes was heavy. The collision occurred near the 61 mile-marker in the westbound lanes of I-64 in Woodford County. The investigation indicates a white GMC Yukon SUV was traveling westbound in the right lane of travel. There was slow moving traffic due to construction in the area ahead. The operator of the GMC Yukon SUV struck the rear of a semi tractor-trailer.
The GMC Yukon SUV was operated by 36-year-old female, Christine Wilson of Versailles, KY. Due to the collision, Ms. Wilson was fatally injured and was pronounced dead on the scene. The semi operator, Mr. James Calvin, age 47, of Wentzville, MO, did not suffer any life-threatening injuries. Both westbound lanes of the interstate were shutdown while the scene was processed and later cleared. The roadway was opened soon after responding personnel cleared the scene.
Detective Brandon Crabtree U/495 is conducting a collision reconstruction of the scene. Trooper Shawn Rodriguez U/966 is conducting the death investigation. County Fire and EMS, along with additional KSP personnel assisted Detective Crabtree and Trooper Rodriguez at the scene. The investigation is preliminary and remains ongoing at this time.
