Kentucky State Police Investigate Fatality Collision 

Frankfort, Ky. (May 11, 2021) – Kentucky State Police responded to investigate a two vehicle fatal collision on Interstate 64 east in Franklin County. The collision occurred after calls to 911 of a reckless driver on Interstate 64 east.

The Kentucky State Police and Franklin County Sheriff Deputies were attempting to locate a red, 2005 Dodge Magnum after calls to 911 from other motorists of a reckless driver. Before the vehicle could be located, the vehicle was involved in a fatal collision near the 55 mile marker in the east bound lanes of Interstate 64.

The preliminary investigation indicates the operator, identified as Shyanne Adkins, age 22 of Jefferson County, lost control of her vehicle and collided with a guardrail off the right shoulder of the roadway. The vehicle then traveled back onto the travel portion of the roadway and rear ended another vehicle then collided with a second guardrail. Shyanne Adkins was ejected from her vehicle and was pronounced deceased by the Franklin County Coroner at the scene. No one in the other vehicle was injured.

Kentucky State Police Troopers were assisted at the scene by the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, Franklin County Fire and EMS and the Franklin County Coroner.

The investigation is ongoing by a Kentucky State Police Post 12 Collision Reconstruction Unit.
