Kentucky State Police Searching for Escaped Inmate in Harlan County

(Molus, Ky.) – On Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at 1:30 p.m., Kentucky State Police Post 10 Harlan was notified by staff from the Harlan County Detention Center Work Release Program that an inmate had walked away from a work crew in the Molus community, off U.S. Hwy 119 in Harlan County. 

The escaped individual has been identified as Robert Taylor, a 46-year-old white male from Richmond, Ky. Taylor is 6 feet tall and last seen wearing white and orange striped detention center pants and a white thermal long-sleeve shirt and has ties to Barbourville, Ky. 

Kentucky State Police have launched an active investigation and search effort. Trooper Brandon Burton is leading the case. He was assisted by the Harlan County Sheriff’s Department and Harlan County Emergency Management.
