Kentucky State Police Investigate Fatal Collision in Lyon County
EDDYVILLE, Ky. (November 22, 2024) – Kentucky State Police (KSP) Post 1 is investigating a collision in Lyon County that claimed the life of a Caldwell County man.
At 5:47pm CT, KSP Post 1 dispatch received a report of a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of the I-24 westbound off ramp at exit 45 and KY-293. Preliminary investigation shows that a 2022 International box truck, operated by Thomas Flood, 24 years old of Longview, Washington, had exited westbound I-24 toward KY-293. A 1998 Mercury Sable operated by Jerrod Easley, 54 years old of Princeton, Kentucky was traveling northbound on KY-293. Flood entered the intersection in the path of travel of Easley. The Sable struck the side of the International truck.
Jerrod Easley was pronounced deceased at the scene. Thomas Flood was transported to a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
KSP was assisted on scene by the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, Lyon County Sheriff’s Office, Lyon County EMS, Lyon County Coroner, Eddyville Police Department and Eddyville Fire Department. The investigation remains ongoing by Detective Nate Moore.
