Kentucky State Police Investigating Collision Involving a Commercial Motor Vehicle in Graves County

Mayfield , KY. (October 13, 2021) – Troopers with Kentucky State Police, Post 1 are investigating a single-vehicle collision in Graves County that has blocked State Highway 97 for several hours.

On October 13, 2021 just before noon, KSP Post 1 was notified of a single-vehicle collision on KY 97 just south of KY 80. Initial investigation shows Antonio Leach, 31 of Greenwood, Mississippi was traveling south on KY 97, operating a 2017 Freightliner truck with a semi-trailer. For reasons believed to be related to tire failure, Leach lost control of the commercial motor vehicle and collided into a utility pole. There were no injuries reported.

As of 6:00PM, KY 97 remains closed at the scene of the collision while emergency crews remove the disabled vehicle and repair the utility pole. Emergency crews estimate that the roadway will remain closed until approximately 7:00PM.

The investigation is ongoing and is being led by Trooper Jay Dunn. Troopers are being assisted on scene by the Graves County Rescue Squad, Graves County Emergency Management, Graves County Road Department, West Kentucky Rural Electric Cooperative, and Burl’s Wrecker Service.
