One Dead After A LaRue County Hit and Run Collision

(Hodgenville, Ky)– Kentucky State Police (KSP) Post 04 Troopers served a LaRue County Grand Jury indictment warrant on a Louisville man. On May 25, 2018 at approximately 2:41 P.M. EDT, KSP Post 04 Troopers served an indictment warrant on Matthew L. Howsden (33) of Louisville, Ky, in connection to the November 18, 2017 collision that took the life of Stephanie Jensen (28) of Magnolia, Ky. Howsden was indicted this month by the LaRue County Grand Jury on one count of murder and one count of leaving the scene of an accident/ failure to render aid with death or serious physical injury. He was lodged in the LaRue County Jail under a $500,000 cash bond. The collision is still under investigation by KSP Trooper/Reconstructionist Dewan Kelly.

(Hodgenville, Ky)– Kentucky State Police Post 4 Troopers responded to a two vehicle fatal collision in LaRue County Saturday night, November 18, 2017.  On November 18, 2017 at approximately 9:57pmET, KSP received a call from the LaRue Co. Sheriff’s Office asking for assistance on a two vehicle accident on KY 210 (Campbellsville Road) at the intersection of Borders Curve Loop.

A 2013 Chevy Equinox with an unidentified driver was headed West on KY 210 when for unknown reasons, the vehicle crossed the center line and entered the Eastbound lane. Stephanie Jensen (28) of Magnolia, KY, was operating a 2010 Nissan Altima Eastbound when her vehicle was struck head-on. She was later pronounced dead at the scene by the LaRue County Coroner. The operator of the Chevy Equinox fled the scene on foot before emergency personnel arrived.

KSP Troopers along with Officers from Kentucky Fish and Wildlife, LaRue Co Sheriff’s Office, Hodgenville Police Department, and members of the LaRue Co. Fire Department searched the area for the missing driver but were unsuccessful in locating anyone.  The accident is still under investigation by KSP Trooper/Reconstructionist Dewan Kelly.

KSP Post 4 is asking for the public’s assistance in locating the driver of the 2013 Chevy Equinox. Anyone who has any information is asked to Contact KSP Post 4 at 270-766-5078. More specifically, there was unknown white male who stopped responding to EMS personnel just up the road from the accident scene who gave them information before they arrived. We are asking for that individual to also contact us or local Law Enforcement.
