KSP Investigates Officer Involved Shooting in Kenton County

 

Update (March 1, 2018 1:00pm) – The officers involved have been identified as Officer John Coulter, 4 year veteran, and Specialist Jared Habermehl, 2 year veteran.

 Specialist Habermehl was the officer that had been shot during the altercation. Both are on administrative duty, which follows Covington Police Policy and is standard procedure.

Update (February 24, 2018 5:30pm) – (February 24, 2018 5:30pm) The individual involved in the shooting has been identified as Brad A Williams, 41 years old, from Elsmere, KY. Mr. Williams has been charged with Attempted Murder of a Police Officer, Assault 2nd, Possession of a Firearm by Convicted Felon and Persistent Felony Offender 1. He is in stable condition at UC Medical Center and will be awaiting extradition back to KY after being released from the hospital.

Update (February 24, 2018, 11:30am) – (February 24, 2018, 10:43am) One person involved has been taken to UC Medical Center and his condition is unknown at this time. A Covington Police Officer was shot, however, his injuries were non-life threaten and has been released from the hospital.

Covington, KY (February 24, 2018) – Detectives from the Kentucky State Police Post 6, Dry Ridge, and the Kentucky State Police Critical Incident Response Team are out at 4516 Decoursey Ave in Covington, KY investigating an officer involved shooting. Officers from the Covington Police Department were involved in a shooting at the above residence.

At this time the investigation is in the preliminary stages and additional information will be provided as it becomes available.
