
Kentucky State Police Charge Nelson Co. Man for Cruelty to Animals
BARDSTOWN, Ky. (Feb. 17, 2025) – Kentucky State Police (KSP) Post 4 in Elizabethtown responded to an alleged animal cruelty complaint in Nelson County, resulting in the property owner being charged.
On Feb. 17, 2025, at 11:00 A.M. EST, KSP Post 4 received a call from an individual stating that an organized chicken-fighting event was active at 1950 Pottershop Road in Bardstown. Troopers and detectives immediately responded to the property and made contact with the owner along with other individuals. As a result of the investigation, the property owner, Aaron John Thompson, 37, of Bardstown, was charged with Cruelty to Animals- 2nd Degree and cited to Nelson County District Court.
The investigation remains ongoing by Trooper Eric Hines. KSP remains active across the state, cracking down on chicken-fighting, including investigations in Bethelridge, Blackberry, and Dunnville, Ky.
